Hi friends! We are in our second week of 2017. Earlier this month I shared my January goals and today I’m sharing with you my 17 in 2017. These are 17 things I want to accomplish in 2017. The items listed below are not resolutions because I’m not setting resolutions this year, but more so a bucket list of 17 things to try in 2017.
17 in 2017:
Establish A Daily Routine // This has been something that I have been continually trying to establish. I’m very fortunate that I get to work from home. While it’s a blessing to save money on gas and work clothes, it’s a struggle to force myself to get up and get ready. There have been many days where I wake up 15 minutes before I have to clock in, rush through feeding the dogs, and not get ready until my lunch hour. So much of my day is wasted because of this.
Lose 20 Pounds // Who doesn’t want to lose weight? With the wedding quickly approaching and a honeymoon at the beach very near, getting my body back in shape is something that is not only crucial for my self-confidence but for my health.
Prioritize Self-Care // During 2016, I spent the majority of the year being extremely busy and not prioritizing myself. 2017 is going to be all about me, in the regards of taking care of myself. Losing weight, eating healthy, taking care of my skin/body, is top priority.
Run A 5K with Dad // I ran cross-country from 7th grade to 11th grade and I really miss the feel of the asphalt beneath my feet. My dad has been running since he was in the 7th grade, he’s now 52. We used to run together all the time when I lived at home. Now I want to get back in shape to start running with him again.
Have A ‘Me-Time’ Day/Night 1x Week // Since I work from home, I often spend all of my time working, blogging, or taking care of the house. There aren’t very many days that i spend with just myself. This year, I hope to spend 1 day a week with just myself. This ‘me-time’ doesn’t have to be an all day/night, but for a few hours I can be with just me. I can head to the coffee shop for blogging, head to bed early with a good book/movie and a glass of wine, take a nice relaxing bubble bath, whatever.
Go On More Adventures // I have been so inspired to start traveling more. So many of my blogging besties are constantly sharing their travel photos on Instagram and it makes me want to start traveling more. Brad and I live in a really good area. We are 4 hours away from some major cities that would be so fun to explore. We have a wedding in April so financially things will be tight but doing research on good rates and just doing a lot of sight-seeing is just what I need.
Start Traditions // With Brad and I getting married this spring, starting traditions is my top priority. We are becoming a family and creating traditions is huge for me. Growing up I loved all of the traditions that my mom and dad made and I want to start our own in preparation for when we have kids.
Enjoy Married Life // This is self-explanatory. Taking time to enjoy being married is critical for a new marriage. Brad and I have only known each other as boyfriend/girlfriends. Now we need to get to know each other again as husband and wife.
Budget Better // Money is not something that I am good at managing. It’s one of my biggest down falls. College loans really take a toll on me every month. I want to sit down and create a really good budget that I can not only stick to but always me a little wiggle room each month so that I don’t feel guilty if I buy a little something here and there.
Make Time For Friends // Life gets chaotic but meeting with friends is something that needs to be a priority.
Make ABH profitable // First I want to say that my main goal for A Blissful Haven is not to make money. Money doesn’t buy happiness. Now that we’ve gotten that out-of-the-way, I would like to make some money. All of the profits that is made goes right back into ABH whether it be new designs, giveaways, etc. Having the extra money from paid sponsorships gives me the ability to keep making ABH bigger and better.
Take A Photography Class // I bought a DSLR camera 2 summers ago and while I’ve learned the basics, I’d love to take a more in-depth class. I’d also love to take a class on how to properly edit photos. Have you taken any good classes online?
Create Blogger Meet-Ups // This is really important to me. The blogging community has been so great to me and I really want to meet these amazing women in person. I have so much to learn from everyone so meeting in person is the next step.
Create A Less Cluttered Life // I have always been a chaotic person. Now that I’m adult, I need to get a better grasp at taking care of my house whether it be cleaning, doing dishes, or putting laundry away. Brad and I are both creatures of collecting things that really should just be thrown away. I’m hoping in 2017 to go through our attic and get ready of anything that hasn’t been used since we moved into our house a year and a half ago.
Read 12 Books This Year // What’s a book? I couldn’t tell you the last time I read a book. I have a coffee table full of great books that I have started but haven’t finished. My goal is to get ABH posts drafted a head of time so I’m not spending my evenings busting out posts but spending my time reading. If I break it down, that’s 1 book a month which really isn’t that bad. What books have you read lately? I’d love some suggestions!
Live In The Present // Wedding planning is in full go as we approach the final months. All of our wedding planning took a brief hiatus from November-December because I wanted to focus on the holidays and be with my friends and family. Now that all of the holiday parties and get-togehters are over, it’s time to finalize all the wedding plans. I know that the next few months are going to be extremely hectic and stressful but it’s really important to me to live in the moment and take it all in. Everyone keeps telling me that the time flies (and so far it has) and to soak it all in because it’s over so quick.
Celebrate The Small Wins // Often in life, focusing on the negatives consumes us. This year I want to start celebrating all of the small wins that Brad and I accomplish. Every accomplishment is a win, in my book, big or small.
There you have it, my 17 in 2017. I hope you have a wonderful year.
