Happy Friday! We are on the 3rd day of November. Where on Earth did this year go? Whenever November arrives, I always start to reflect on all things that I am thankful for. I know it’s because November brings Thanksgiving. And I know we are supposed to reflect on what we are thankful for all year, but I’m human. If you are not someone who reflects on what you are thankful for or forgets to show gratitude, this post is for you. Here are 5 ways to show gratitude in the month of November.
Now you might be asking, what’s the point of this post. Well, a life without gratitude can be an unfulfilled life. It’s extremely important to reflect on things that you are thankful for and to show others how grateful you are. Everyday and everything is a blessing. While it might seem or even sound silly to list things you are grateful for, it’s important to see how many things you have in your life to be thankful for.
Most people only focus on the negative or trying times and they forget about the blessings in life. Always take time to remember how blessed you are and the things (or people) you are thankful for are always there for you when you are struggling. If you don’t feel like you have a lot to be grateful for, you do. If it’s something or someone you can’t imagine living without, add it to your list.
5 Ways to Show Gratitude:
Give out compliments // When around others, take time to give compliments. Find something that you like about someone and share that with them. How many times does a stranger compliment you and it immediately make your day?
Share other’s joys // If a friend or loved one is celebrating an accomplishment such as a promotion, engagement, child, and so on, share their joy. Be sincerely happy with them and for them.
Send snail-mail // Taking time out to handwrite a personal note to someone just because you are “thinking of them” is a great way to show gratitude. Writing thank you cards for gifts, meals, inviting you on trips, etc. is the perfect snail-mail card. Lastly send your loved one a sweet love letter.
Perform random acts of kindness // This is a great way to show gratitude. Performing a random act of kindness such as paying it forward, tipping extra, and donating to charity, shows that you are grateful for your job and it will make the day of someone else.
Smile // Lastly, smile. This simple gesture can seriously change anyways mood. In a world full of hate, you never know when a smile from a complete stranger can change what someone else is thinking. Remember that. Remember to be kind to strangers and smile.
