It’s Friday! I love 4 day work weeks. I wish every week had 3 day weekends and 4 day work weeks. I think life would be 100 times better! I think this Friday is even better since I am sharing our engagement story! I announced yesterday that Brad and I got engaged on Myrtle Beach!
Brad and I have been engaged for almost a month now and it has been absolutely wonderful! I have been waiting for this day to happen and now that it has, I am just floored. While we were getting ready to go on vacation, the entire week before, I had this feeling that Brad was going to propose. Some people in his family were just being really weird about our relationship and there was just this feeling in my stomach. I made sure to pack a couple really nice outfits
if when we got engaged.
The first “real” day that we were on vacation was spent drinking lots of beer, soaking up the sun, and lying on the beach. It was getting close to evening and Brad and I had been on the beach for about 8 hours. I was absolutely exhausted. When Brad
asked told me that it was time to go get cleaned up for dinner, I refused to go. I was a wee bit drunk and just exhausted. But, I went up to the hotel to shower.
Let me rewind a bit, Brad’s sister, Brittany, and I sat next to each other at the beach. Everyone else had walked down to the ocean, she took the opportunity to ask me when I thought Brad and I would get engaged. My typical response was, I hoped that it would occur while we were on vacation. Needless to say, that was the answer she was hoping for. She took the opportunity to talk me out of thinking that it would happen by completely destroying my excitement. Little did I know that it was all a grand scheme of hers. While getting ready, I was texting my best friend about my conversation with Brittany. I was completely devastated because I was hoping so bad that it would happen while on vacation. Looking back, I think a lot of this panic attack had to do with the amount of beverages I had consumed during that day.
Now back to the good stuff… Brad and I drove to Barefoot Landing, which is where there were a bunch of restaurants and shops. After walking around for a bit, Brad let me pick the restaurant. This was not something that is usually common. Typically, we pick something together. I chose Joe’s Crab Shack because I was in the mood for some good crab cakes.
After dinner, we were both completely stuffed. I had ate my weight in crab cakes. Brad announced that we were going to go walking on the beach. Again, I pushed back and said that I didn’t want to. I don’t know about you, but after eating a large meal, the last thing I want to do walk around. I just wanted to lie down on our bed. Brad kept insisting, so obviously I went. The beach was starting to thin out, the sun was starting to set, and the atmosphere was just perfect. Out of nowhere, Brad asked me if I could see that “really cool boat way out there”. I’m blind as a bat so I was staring hard core out at the sea. When I turned around to ask Brad what he was talking about, he was down on one knee. I was in shock! I had completely freaked out for absolutely no reason.
June 12, 2016 will forever hold a special place in my heart. In just a few short months, I will be marrying my best friend.
