Happy Tuesday! We are only 12 days away from Christmas and I have not finished my Christmas shopping. Have you? Every year I tell myself that I am going to plan ahead and start shopping at the end of October to avoid the last-minute rush. As I type that I’m sitting here laughing because of course that will never happen. In addition to shopping for everyone on my list, almost every Christmas function I go to requires that the guests bring one gift that is typically in the $25-$30 range. These are my favorite gifts to put together because who doesn’t love a DIY holiday gift? Today I am putting together my very own DIY holiday gift that anyone would love.
What to include in your DIY holiday gift:
Glasses are a fun touch to any gift, especially during the holidays. Every store has fun seasonal coffee mugs, regular glasses, wine glasses and more. A great store to look for fun glasses are Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Home Goods, and surprisingly, Kroger. Most people drink some kind of hot beverage every morning whether it be coffee, tea, hot chocolate, someone is always reaching for a mug every day. By giving a fun mug, that person who receives your gift will think about you each time they use that mug.
This goes along with the mugs. Everyone loves to receive pretty home decor especially holiday related items. Each year when that person goes to decorate their home, they’re going to pull out the gift you gave and think about you. It might even trigger them to text or call you and see how you’ve been.
Some Kind of Drink
The type of drink to give depends on your audience. If you know the people participating like to drink alcohol then giving a bottle of wine, a 6 pack of craft beer, or some kind of liquor is a great choice. If you are unsure, play it safe and go with a pack of K-Cups or hot chocolate.
A Sweet Treat
Everyone loves to receive a treat. One way to give a treat is by buying these super fun gift packs from Thoughtfully Gifting Stories. Thoughtfully Gifting Stories is an online gift service that features many varieties of gifts. My personal favorite was the Sweet Circus Skillet Gift Set. This set came with 3 milk bottles, 3 cast-iron skillets with baking mix, and other fun goodies. What’s great about this set is that you can give a cast-iron skillet to each gift you have to give and include some of the fun goodies that come in the box.
Your Personal Favorite
The last item that I love to add is something that I’m loving and know that others would love too. This item can be a book, a movie, a gift card, or whatever you think the recipients would like. For my Christmas, all of the girls love watching Fixer Upper so choosing their book, The Magnolia Story, was a no brainer.
There you have it! My 5 go-to items to include in a DIY holiday gift.
