Why hello, pretties! Can you believe Monday is here already? Like, wait, weren’t we just starting the weekend? Today’s post is going to be a little different from our typical fashion posts. I also get asked if I will help decorate someone’s house or get complimented on my decorating style. So today, I am going to share with you 5 tips to update your home for fall. Here is your fall home decor decorating tips, tricks, and decor recommendations.
Before you even begin decorating for fall, the first thing you need to do is a pick a theme. The theme of your house is important because it will prevent your home from looking like a hodgepodge mess. Determine if you want minimalistic, farmhouse, rustic chic, black and white, neutral themed, pop of colors (blush, pale blue, orange, etc.). Once you select your theme, make sure you carry it throughout your entire home.
Fall Home Decor Refresh:
Warm It Up // Fall decor is all about setting a mood inside your home. The first thing you should do is remove any faux greenery including plants, garland, etc. The reason you want to remove these items is because fall bring browns and other warm tones. Plants are changing colors and not staying green. These faux plants are perfect to display in the spring through the beginning of fall. Once you have removed those items, start bring out other warm toned colors. I like to replace vase fillers, serving pieces, rugs, decorative towels, place mat, and any other decorative accents.
Get Cozy // Now that your home is feeling warm, it’s time to get cozy. I love adding throws throughout my home that add extra warmth during the fall season. As temperatures start falling, you’ll want to quickly grab a throw to get cozy under while you sip your hot apple cider and watch the much-anticipated fall premiers. I love to drape throws over the back of the couch and recliner, as well as, fold under coffee tables, place in decorative storage bins, and across the bed. This adds a cozy touch to your room that sets an inviting mood.
Pumpkins Everywhere // It’s not fall without pumpkins. Am I right? When it comes to decorating, you can never have too many pumpkins. I love it when my house looks like a pumpkin patch. There are so many different varieties of pumpkins that range in color, size, material. Not only are there pumpkin decor pieces but there are pillows, rugs, and candle holders that have pumpkins on them.
Faux-liage // When decorating for fall, bring the foliage indoors. The best way to do this is by buying faux leaves, acorns, and stems. When selecting faux-liage, I recommend investing in pieces and keeping an eye on them when those pieces go on sale (or watch for coupons). The reason I say invest is because typically, if the pieces are more expensive they look more realistic. I love decorating faux-liage in the form of wreaths, garlands, floral arrangements, and vase fillers.
Fall Scents // Now that your home is all decorated, it’s time to light a fall scented candle, cozy up on the couch, and enjoy your decor. When it comes to fall scents, I like to keep things warm and less perfume-y. I find that the fragrances that are more perfume scented give me headaches, but this is definitely something based on your preferences. Also keep in mind, if you are going to light candles in each room, make sure the scents don’t clash with each other.

There’s just nothing better than having your home decorated for fall. From the scents to the pumpkins to the warm colors, you’ll never want to leave your house. Happy fall, y’all!
