Happy 2017, friends! Wow I cannot believe I just typed 2017! Where did 2016 go? I hope you all had a safe and wonderful New Year. Do you notice anything different today? If you’re a returning reader of A Blissful Haven, then I’m sure you noticed ABH got a facelift to start the new year. It was just time to go through a bit of rebranding. I hope you like it as much as I do! Now on to today’s post! Today’s post is all about this month’s goals. I decided this year to do monthly goals rather than creating New Year’s resolutions. To go along with this month’s goals, I’ll be recapping how I did with my December goals, sharing some currently fun facts, and discussing my reader’s survey. So onto my January goals!
Let’s recap December //
Write as many posts ahead of time for 2017 as I can. Keep utilizing Stumbleupon! Get back in the habit of scheduling social media ahead of time.
Reach out to more bloggers for collaborations in 2017. If you are interested in collaborating, email me at email@example.com // This sort of happened. I have a couple of collaborations in the works. If you would like to collaborate, I’m still interested!
Keep working out & lose 10 pounds. // This didn’t happen, unfortunately. Life was so hectic with work and the holidays that working out fell off the list.
Create a cleaning routine that can be easily kept.
Start DIY projects for the wedding. // This didn’t happen either, but we have everything planned out that needs to be done and when it needs to be done.
Keep crossing items off the ever-growing wedding list. Order wedding invitations.
Hit 3,000 Instagram followers // I’m currently at 2,670 followers. I’ve really been working on creating a more cohesive Instagram feed and would love to hit my next milestone.
Work on blog photography // I bought a DSLR camera over a year ago and still have not taken the time to learn how to use it properly. If you have any pointers or have taken any good classes, let me know if the comments below! I really want to improve my photography skills for my blog and Instagram.
Learn how to utilize Pinterest to its fullest potential // Pinterest, if used correctly, can be a complete game-changer to getting traffic to any site. I want to learn all of the ends and outs of Pinterest and start gaining more traffic. I’d love to hear how you utilize Pinterest. Leave me a comment below!
Redo Pinterest Cover Photos // This goes along with utilizing Pinterest more. Plus, with the launch of my redesign, it is time to update my Pinterest covers.
Be more present on social media // This is huge. I schedule all blogging related social media posts every time I write a blog post. I do this to ensure that everything is taken care of in case life happens. Since I do that, I often forget to get on my social media channels and interact with others. This is something that I desperately hope to change. I’m also hoping that by becoming more interactive on social media, I’ll be able to make more blogging friends, which brings me to my next goal.
Make a new blog friend // The blogging community is my favorite part of blogging. The friends I have made are quickly becoming my best friends. I love interacting with other about blog stuff or even getting to the point where we talk about all things personal. Looking to make a blog friend? Lets chat!
Workout 3x a week & lose 7-10 pounds // January marks 3.5 months until the wedding which means it’s time to get this body in shape! If I lose 7 pounds now until the wedding, I’ll hit my target weight! Woohoo!
Mail bridal shower invitations // The bridal shower is quickly approaching. This Saturday marks 8 weeks until the shower. I’m super excited and can’t believe how quickly time is going. Speaking of bridal shower, Brad and I need to finalize our wedding registry items.
Finalize bridal shower decorations and start collecting items // It’s time to finalize all of the decoration ideas and begin any shopping or crafting. I don’t want to wait the last-minute to do any DIY projects. What you think will be quick, typically ends up taking twice as long.
Do 1 wedding DIY // Thankfully we don’t have a whole lot of wedding DIYs to do so I’d like to do one this month so that it’s just done and out of the way.
Read 1 Book // With getting as many posts for ABH done ahead of time, I’m hoping it will alleviate some time for me to get back to reading. I absolutely love reading and I didn’t read one book last year. That’s extremely pathetic to me. I used to read 20+ books a year and I’ve quickly stopped doing that. I miss curling up under a blanket and reading a good book.
There you have it, my January goals now on to what I’ve currently been up to!
Currently I’ve been…
Eating lots of sweets! I just can’t say no to holiday cookies but starting today, my wedding diet starts.
Watching Game of Thrones. Brad and I decided to start binge watching this. I’m not 100% sure how I feel about it.
Listening to 90’s music of course! I’m on the hunt to make the most badass playlist for my bachelorette party bus! Do you like 90’s music? If so, leave me some suggestions in the comments below!
Looking forward to 2017! I’m so eager to get this year started!
Reader Survey Results
At the end of 2016 I conducted a reader’s survey. I have been conducting a reader’s survey each quarter/season. It’s a great way to learn more about you, my reader’s. The best part about these surveys is that the responses are anonymous. Having an anonymous survey allows your readers the privacy to speak their mind and truthfully answer the questions. If you are a blogger, my friend, Summer from Coffee with Summer wrote a great post on why you should conduct reader surveys. I had great success with this season’s survey.
I have found that some of my readers don’t like the holiday posts. In order for me to accommodate those who do like it, this year I will be trying different holiday type posts that aren’t the traditionally gift guides. Most people want to see more raw and real lifestyle posts. This is something that is definitely going to be showcased more around the wedding. I’m also going to start incorporating the currently section (like the above) on my goal posts.
The last bit of feedback that was shared is that a lot of people said that they didn’t like the fashion posts. While I greatly appreciate the feedback, fashion posts are going to stay but these posts won’t solely focus on an outfit. I am by no means a fashion blogger and have no desire to only share an outfit. The fashion posts will provide self-help advice and other tips while giving fashion inspiration to those that are interested in tips on styling outfits. In 2017, A Blissful Haven is going to become a life and style blog. Styling outfits as been something that I have always loved doing and surprisingly it has helped grow my self-confidence and forced me to love my body and to stop body shaming myself.
