Hey all, it’s Amy from NewKeyBeauty.com! I have a series on my blog called “Whatcha Think About…” where I review, swatch and demonstrate different ranges of products like the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms or the Deborah Lippmann Party Mix set. I hope you enjoy, and a big thanks to Lexi from A Blissful Haven for letting me chime in today!
This past Christmas, I was lucky enough to receive a selection of the Sephora Collection Fiber masks. Practically since birth, I have loved using masks. They are a luxurious little treat perfect for relaxing and winding down after a long day. There are thousands of different masks to choose from with different price ranges, finishes and they all target different skin issues. The Sephora Collection has a variety of 8 different sheet masks, of which I have 3: Pomegranate, Honey and Pearl.
For those of you that don’t know, a sheet mask is simply a cloth soaked in a serum. Depending on the brand, the cloth will sit for between 8-15 minutes before you remove and pat the serum gently into your skin. You do not have to wash anything off, making it a very low maintenance form of skin care. Though not my favourite type of mask, they are typically fantastic for fighting redness, adding some hydration and brightening.
Back to these Sephora brand sheet masks, each $8 CDN package comes with a single sheet mask coated in a serum to target a specific skin issue. They do have a deal where if you buy 5 masks, you receive 1 free online as well. As I said, the 8 different masks target different things from moisturizing to brightening to mattifying. Below are each mask offered:
As you can see, I used the Pomegranate anti-fatigue and energizing mask since on this particular day, I was exhausted. After using the mask, I took a look to see exactly what it was supposed to do for my skin. According to Sephora, it “awakens, energizes, and protects the skin with antioxidant-rich natural pomegranate extract.” Hmmm…
Before applying any mask, I gave my face a quick cleanse to remove any excess product, dirt and oil. The best thing about sheet masks is how refreshing they are. If you store them in a cool place, when you unfold and apply the mask, it instantly wakes you up (and tightens your pores a bit). Unfolding them can be a bit of a pain, but it’s well worth it.
From what I have used of the Sephora brand masks, the serums all feel quite watery and thin with a lovely smell. This Pomagrante mask didn’t smell particularly good or bad, but it felt so lovely. After using it, I 100% agree that it was energizing and it was also quite toning. My skin felt smoother and calmer than it usually does. An added bonus was that my make up went on like a dream.
One thing I will warn about is that there tends to be excess serum in the package so it could be messy if you start flinging around the packaging. What I usually do is once my mask has sat on my face for about 10-15 minutes, I remove it and then apply any extra serum onto the sheet and press it into the skin. Once my skin was dry, I moisturized a bit and applied make up and it went on so smoothly. I don’t know whether it was the formula or because I took that extra skin care step, but I will be doing a lot more morning masks from now on!
