Summer weather has officially hit Ohio! With the changes of temperature and humidity, rethinking my typical makeup routine is a must. When the humidity rises, wearing super heavy foundation leaves my skin feeling weighed down and greasy. Today I am going to share with you my go-to summer makeup look that’s both light weight and fun for summer. I’m really nervous to share this post as I’ve never shared a makeup tutorial on A Blissful Haven.

For the Eyes:
When doing makeup, I make sure to start with my eyes. I start by putting primer on my eye lids. This ensures that my eye shadow will stay during the hot and sticky summer heat. I love this primer because it’s affordable and really keeps my shadow on. Next I take a fluffy blending brush and dip it in a burgundy shade. I apply this color to the eye crease. I keep building this color in a back and forth motion until it reaches my desired look.
After I get the crease where I want it, I take an eye shadow brush and use a shimmery pink color. I press this shade onto my eye lid. I again build this color until I achieve the color I’m looking for.
To add some additional color to my look, I add some eye liner. I don’t do a winged look because I like to keep this look simple.
For the Face:
Once again, I start by priming my face. It’s extremely important to use a primer that has SPF in it, especially during the summer months when the sun’s rays are super powerful. My go-to primer is Coola Suncare’s Daydream primer. It goes on great and doesn’t leave my face feeling like I have additional products on my face.
The next step is to apply CC cream with a foundation brush. I’ve always been a foundation girl because I love the full coverage. CC Cream has become a game changer to me. I used it on our trip to St. Lucia. It gives me the perfect coverage for summer without being to heavy for hot, humid days.
Then I add a nice summer glow with bronzer, blush, and highlight.
When my face is complete, it’s time to do my eyebrows.
Once everything is done, I go back to my eyes. I take a small detail brush to go in with the same burgundy shade from before and apply to my under eye where I typically apply eye liner. The last eye step is to add mascara to my lashes. I usually add 3 coats to achieve the length and look I desire.
Now it’s time for lip color. I use the Coola Suncare SPF lipstick in the shade nude beach for some color on my lips. This lipstick is a gorgeous color, smells great, and keeps my lips protected in the heat.
Don’t forget to set your face!
There you have it! My go-to summer makeup look. This look is simple which makes it great for any occasion. It also feels light on my face and with the right products (that I mention above), it lasts all day. I wear this look when we were in St. Lucia.
