I always wanted to be Rachel Greene from Friends. Rachel was cool, fashionable, and loved by millions. Except, I’ve never been any of those things. After years of trying to fight it, I’ve accepted I’m most like Monica. I’ve always loved cleaning —I find it to be relaxing. For everyone else who identifies as a Monica out there, I have compiled the ultimate guide to Spring cleaning. Although it’s still Winter, Spring is fast approaching and soon enough flowers will be blooming and pollen will be spreading. Spring-cleaning is a great excuse to de-clutter your home, cleanse your mind, and start fresh for the new season. However, Spring cleaning isn’t a small task. Where should you begin?
As a lifelong neat freak, I have managed to conquer Spring-cleaning. Make sure you have the proper cleaning tools before you try tackling this list. Pick up some Clorox disinfecting wipes, Mr. Clean Magic Erasers, and Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaner from your local Target. You may also want to space cleaning out over the course of a week instead of trying to get it all done within a day. Remember, you can make cleaning fun by asking friends for help, listening to music, and taking breaks along the way. Reward yourself by enjoying a glass of wine.
On deciding whether to donate, toss, or keep…
When was the last time I wore/used this?
Do I have multiples of the same thing?
Does it have sentimental value?
Does it fit me or my living space?
Why am I keeping it?
Let’s start the conversation.
Do you have any Spring-cleaning tips I didn’t mention? If you can spend just a few minutes cleaning every day, the chores won’t pile up and you won’t have to clean like crazy before guests come over. A tidy home will make for a happier, less stressful environment.
